Staff Applications Engineer
Company: M2000 is an FPGA (Programmable Logic) startup in stealth mode. The company’s high density FPGA fabric technology enables it to target very high end applications capable of rivaling ASICs in many cases.
Job Description The successful candidate will be in charge specific customer projects
Pre and post-sales customer support to drive M2000’s design wins. Customer support activities include but are not limited to:
- Design software installation, support, training
- Design conversion and optimization for best performance
- Competitive benchmarks
- IP and other application specific design support
- Fixing various problems customers may encounter
- Work with R&D in defining and suggesting bug fixes, channeling only the relevant technical feedback and problems while handling the majority of the technical issues within the applications team.
- Develop demo boards and reference designs
- Evaluate, adapt and integrate third party tools and IP
Qualifications 10+ years of experience in the semiconductor or electronics system industry, with the following skills and experience:
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, the successful candidate will have to interact and present to customers
- Experience in a customer support environment is a plus. This position requires a proactive and aggressive customer service mentality
- Very detailed knowledge of high-end FPGA design flow, from design entry through place & route, including board level implementation. The FPGA experience and knowledge must be recent and related to products such as Virtex4, Virtex5 or Stratix II and Stratix III. Knowledge of and experience with ASIC design flow is a plus
- Capable of working in a fast paced, growing, evolving startup environment
- A true team player, able to work well with R&D, sales, marketing and third parties as well as customer
In summary, the ideal candidate will be a sort of super-user or Mr. “Fix it” who will be a key contributor to M2000’s success in winning and keeping customers.
Compensation The compensation is very competitive and commensurate with the experience of the candidate. In addition to salary, there will be a generous amount of stock options. M2000 provides health insurance, 401K plan, three weeks (15 days) of paid time off.

- Very detailed knowledge and hands-on experience with the latest high-end FPGA design flow, from design entry through place & route. The FPGA experience and knowledge must be recent and related to products such as Virtex4, Virtex5 or Stratix II and Stratix III with Quartus and/or ISE.
- Proficient with Synplify Pro and/or Mentor Graphics Precision synthesis tools
- Proficient in scripting languages such as tcl, perl
- Capable of working in a fast paced, growing, evolving startup environment
- A true team player, able to work well with R&D, sales, marketing and third parties as well as customers
- Multi-year successful career at an EDA company such as Synplicity, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys, Magma or Xilinx, Altera in a software support and applications environment is a prerequisite to be considered for this position
